The Evaluation Process.

Initial Parent Consultation.

This initial step involves a 50-minute parent meeting where we will discuss your child's history, identify specific areas of concern, and answer your questions.  Together, we will also formulate the referral questions that will guide the assessment process.

Testing Sessions.

Testing length varies based on the age and need of the child, but evaluations are typically completed within 1-2 meetings with your clinician and last several hours at a time.  As a part of your child's assessment we review outside documents or other evaluations they may have received, as well as collect information from other individuals who may know your child well, such as their teacher or therapist.  You, too, will complete questionnaires regarding your child's strengths, behaviors, and emotions.

Feedback Sessions.

Once the testing is complete a parent feedback meeting will be scheduled to review the results, impressions, and recommendations. We also offer child and adolescent feedback sessions to help your child understand how their brain works and answer their questions about the assessment process.

Written Report.

Shortly after the feedback session you will receive a comprehensive assessment report. Our reports aim to clearly describe your child's strengths and skills uncovered through the assessment process as well as document the areas in need of continued support and growth. Through this document you are provided concrete and actionable steps and recommendations to advocate for and support your child at home, in school, and through the community.

Costs Associated with an Assessment.

Paying Privately.

Our assessment services are offered on a private-pay basis.  We do not accept insurance.

Benefits.

We appreciate that a neuropsychological evaluation is a large financial commitment. Paying privately for a pediatric neuropsychological evaluation has several advantages for your family.

Without the constraints of insurance, the process can move faster, as you won't have to wait for approvals, deal with coverage limits, or tolerate lengthy wait lists. This means the evaluation can be more personalized and focused on what your child truly needs without delays in care and intervention.

Additionally, this approach allows us to make decisions based on your child's unique needs, rather than sticking to what the insurance company considers necessary. It enables us to take a more holistic and strength-based view of your child by collaborating with other professionals, adapting the evaluation schedule and structure to meet your child's needs, and spending the time to fully understand your child.

How Cost is Determined.

The cost of the assessment varies based on the age of the individual and the referral questions.  During the initial parent consultation meeting we will provide you with an estimate of fees for the comprehensive evaluation we have collaboratively planned with you.

Out of Network Benefits.

What are out of network benefits?

Many insurance companies will reimburse for services provided by "out-of-network" providers. Usually, the reimbursement is a percentage of what you paid.

How do I find out about my benefits?

It is important to call your insurance provider to inquire about out-of-network benefits and how to seek reimbursement.  We have created a document to help you when contacting your insurance provider.

Our Role.

To support the process, we will provide you a detailed receipt, called a "superbill" and complete any required paperwork you provide.
